JOHANNESBURG – Good Governance Africa has made key appointments to its senior management structure to reflect the organisation’s growth across the continent and elsewhere.

GGA SADC Executive Director, Professor Alain Tschudin, has been appointed Special Advisor to the organisation and will be succeeded by current non-executive board member Chris Maroleng from 1 May, 2020.

Good Governance Africa (GGA) is an independent and registered research and advocacy non-profit organisation, established to promote better governance in Africa.

The organisation opened its first centre in Johannesburg, South Africa in February 2012 to focus on the 16 countries in the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

Three years later, GGA opened an office in Accra, Ghana, for English-speaking West Africa and several Portuguese-speaking countries in the region, followed by its Nigerian office in Lagos to represent Africa’s largest population and the continent’s biggest economy.

In 2018, GGA established a country office in Harare, Zimbabwe, and recently opened in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for the AU/East Africa region, as well as partnering with the Gorée Institute in Dakar, Senegal for Francophone West Africa.

Professor Tschudin has been growing global relationships with major organisations, partners and governments and will now focus on developing these relations. He will also advise our centres across Africa and charitable entities in the UK and the US on key matters, including strategy, research outputs and the development of major partnerships with key funders and governments.

Mr Maroleng brings with him a wealth of knowledge and expertise from the various senior roles he has occupied in both the private and public sectors. He comes into this position with a strong mandate from the board to consolidate and build on the growth GGA has achieved to date.

His extensive networks in the fields of governance, commerce, media, and security throughout the SADC region and beyond, coupled with his deep understanding of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, are certain to move GGA forward, underpinned by dynamic innovation.
