Natural Resource Governance & Climate Change
This work promotes the transparent, responsible, and sustainable management of Africa’s natural wealth, alongside effective responses to climate change. GGA supports policies and institutions that ensure resources such as minerals, oil, gas, land and wildlife contribute to broad-based development rather than conflict, corruption or environmental degradation. By promoting fair resource governance, climate adaptation and mitigation, responsible investment of resource revenues, environmental protection and community participation, GGA seeks to transform Africa’s natural wealth into shared and sustainable prosperity while strengthening resilience to climate risks.
Governance Insights and Analytics
Our work advances data-driven governance reform, using research, data analysis and technology to improve how governments function, how decisions are made and how public services are delivered. Through governance performance indices, policy research, monitoring systems and on-the-ground analytics, GGA identifies what is working, where governance gaps persist and where reform is needed. By strengthening transparency, accountability and evidence-based decision-making, this thematic area supports more effective institutions, better service delivery and a more predictable environment for citizens, businesses and investors.
Peace and Security
GGA’s work recognises the fundamental relationship between human security, effective governance and sustainable development. Without peace, public safety, justice and social stability, communities cannot thrive and economic development cannot take root. GGA therefore works to strengthen peace and security structures, support the rule of law, prevent and resolve conflict, strengthen security governance and build community resilience. By promoting social cohesion and stronger, more accountable institutions, this thematic area helps create stable societies in which citizens, communities and economies can flourish.
