Minister Liberata Mulamula
is a Tanzanian diplomat and politician presently serving as Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation since April 2021. She boasts 35 years of experience, having served in various capacities, including Ambassador to the United States of America and Mexico. Minister Mulamula served as the first Executive Secretary of the Great Lakes Region Secretariat on Peace, Stability and Development covering 12 countries, mostly post-conflict countries of Africa. She was also a Special Diplomatic Advisor of the former Tanzania President His Excellency Jakaya Kikwete and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs before her retirement in 2016. She is the Member of the UN Secretary General's Advisory Group on Peacebuilding Fund and a founding member of FemWise-Africa- the network of African Women in Conflict Prevention and Mediation, as well as the African Women Leaders Network. She was also the Chairperson of Good Governance Africa (GGA) - USA. Minister Mulamula is a graduate of St. John’s University, New York (Government and Politics), with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Relations (Hons.) from the University of Dar-es-Salaam and has a post-graduate Diploma in International Law and Diplomacy. She is a Recipient of the Order of the United Republic of Tanzania 2015 Award for Distinguished Public Service.
