Dr Darion Barclay is a corporate governance and management executive with over 25 years of experience in the private, public, and higher education sectors, including public entities. He has served in multiple leadership positions in the public service in Gauteng and South Africa, providing regular strategic and operational advice to the Premier, Members of the Executive Council, and the Director General. His current role is as head of department at the Gauteng Department of Co-operative Governance & Traditional Affairs. Dr Barclay holds a PhD in Public Governance from the University of Johannesburg, with his thesis titled “A corporate governance framework for sector education and training authorities”. In addition to his appointment as a GGA SARO Research Associate, Darion is a member of the Institute of Directors and a member of the Institute of Management.
